Pigmentation & Melasma Treatment

If pigmentation is the bane of your life and you are utterly fed up with it, this treatment is going to be a game changer for you. Whether your pigmentation is melasma (usually caused by hormones) or appeared through too much sun exposure over the years, this is the first treatment designed not only to clear the visible pigmentation but, more importantly, reduce it coming back every summer!

The LUMINESCENS® protocol consists of professional mesotherapy and a professional strength home care cream. Both products have 4 active complexes that aim to reduce current pigmentation and most importantly, prevent the formation of new pigmentation!

This is where this treatment is different to other options available right now. Melasma in particular, is notoriously difficult to treat and while we achieve beautiful results in removing the pigmentation on the surface of the skin with treatments such as MOXI laser, we haven’t been able to effectively prevent it bouncing back. Until now.

Our skin cells have a memory. This means that the cells responsible for making pigment (melanin) will continue to produce it unless we can change their behaviour and memory. LUMINESCENS® is doing exactly that. By using the cream alongside the clinical treatments, we are changing the cell memory so it doesn’t begin to overproduce melanin the minute the sun is out!

How LUMINESCENS® Works:

The LUMINESCENS® kit consists of two vials of professional mesotherapy and one home cream. Both products contain 4 active complexes that aim to reduce current pigmentation and prevent the formation of new pigmentation.

These are the 4 key elements:

  • Melanogenic enzyme blockers, targeting specific proteins such as Tyrosinase
  • Melanin formation and transport blockers, such as copper chelators and MC1R inhibitors
  • Keratolytics to aid the removal of existing melanin
  • Antioxidants and dermo-normalisers, inhibit free radicals and prevent the cascade of melanin synthesis

The treatment begins with superficially micro-needling in BioRePeelcl3. This has many incredible anti-ageing benefits in addition to helping tackle excess pigmentation.

We remove the BioRePeel and then micro-needle in LUMINESCENS® mesotherapy serum. This process is comfortable so doesn’t require any numbing.

You will then need to use the accompanying LUMINESCENS® cream at home, twice a day for the first two weeks, then once per day thereafter for the next 3-4 months.

How quickly will I see results?

Improvement will be noticed within weeks but the best results will be seen 3-4 months after you begin your course of in-clinic treatments.

Does it hurt?

Due to the micro-needling being superficial, this is a very tolerable treatment that does not require topical numbing

How long does it last?

All pigmentation has the possibility of returning so we recommend using the LUMINESCENS® cream once a day for the long term to reduce the chances of this. You can also repeat the clinical treatments annually around the summertime to keep melasma in particular at bay.

Is it just one treatment?

It will depend on the severity of the pigmentation but usually, a course of 3-4 treatment is required for the best outcome.

Is there any downtime?

Not much at all. You may experience some light peeling around days 3-5 due to the addition of the BioRePeel but nothing that a little extra moisturiser can’t help with.

Can anyone have this treatment?

As with all our treatments you will have a full consultation and medical history taken.  Treatment with skin boosters is not recommended in the following instances;

  1. If you have a skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).
  2. If you have previously experienced allergic reactions to any of the ingredients or local anaesthetic
  3. If you are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin, or have a bleeding disorder.
  4. If you are taking steroids or have autoimmune disease.
  5. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  6. If you are currently or have recently completed a course of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin acne treatment) in the last 18 months.
  7. If you have suffered from keloid scars, scleroderma or epilepsy
