Skin Boosters

In recent years, more and more people are looking for a more natural approach to anti-ageing treatments – ie. not dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections. Skin boosters are a perfect alternative to these, working specifically to target crepey skin and fine lines alongside aiding in hydration and improving both tone and texture.

There are many skin boosters on the market and all not all are created equal. Here are our top skin boosters:

Sunekos

This booster works by stimulating the fibroblasts in the skin to produce new collagen and elastin and reduce premature skin ageing.

What they do:

  • They contain amino acids and hyaluronic acid – essential building blocks of the skin
  • Can be used on any kind of dermis and in different parts of the body such as: face, neck, décolleté and hands
  • Sunekos Proforma is particularly effective in the area around the eyes to reduce dark circles and bags
  • Effective for the treatment of a loss of tone, skin ageing, skin dryness, solar elastosis, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles.

Ares

Used for aged, sun damaged, lacklustre and wrinkled skin, these boosters restore elasticity by stimulating the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin.

What they do:

  • Improve skin luminosity
  • Significantly increase collagen synthesis and repair skin
  • Contain three different molecular weight hyaluronic acids to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a deep plumping, smoothing and moisturising effect
  • Improve the superficial texture of the skin due to cellular proliferation
  • Wrinkle-relaxing effects

Karisma

The world’s first injectable Type-1 collagen. Due to it’s non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, it gives a filling and slightly volumetric effect, meaning we can see some results immediately after the treatment.

What other benefits does it give?

  • It accelerates the multiplication of fibroblasts – the cells that produce collagen and elastin
  • It aids and accelerates tissue regeneration
  • It is non-immunogenic, hypoallergenic, and does not cause allergic reactions – so a safer option than dermal fillers
  • Fantastic for glycation lines (vertical cheek lines), deep lines around the mouth & chin
  • Improves the quality, thickness, density and firmness of the skin
  • Intense, deep skin hydration
  • Only 2-3 treatments required, minimal downtime
  • Can be used on the face, neck, décolleté & hands

These are a non-surgical, injectable treatments. Prior to treatment the area to be treated is cleansed and a numbing cream applied, if required.

Unlike some skin boosters which are used just below the surface of the skin, most of these can be injected at multiple levels in the skin, either with a needle or via a cannula. Following treatment the area is lightly massaged. The whole process takes around 45 minutes (including numbing time) and best results are obtained from a course of treatments.

How quickly will I see results?

You will generally start to see improvement in hydration levels in your skin around 1-2 weeks after your first treatment. The best results come in the weeks following as your collagen network is rebuilt.

Does it hurt?

We can apply a numbing cream to the treatment area for 20 minutes before treatment so the process is not painful although there may be minor discomfort as the product can sting a little.

How long does it last?

The results of improved skin hydration and reduced skin pigmentation last 6 to 9 months.  This may vary and does depend on factors such as the structure and condition of your skin, lifestyle factors and age.

Is it just one treatment?

Depending on the area that is being treated, protocol requires 3- 4 treatments at 2-4 week intervals.  We recommend repeating this twice a year to maintain results.

Is there any downtime?

The procedure has no downtime (although as with any injectable treatment there may be bruising and swelling) and the patient can immediately continue as normal.  On occasions there may be significant swelling in the under eye area.

Can anyone have this treatment?

As with all our treatments you will have a full consultation and medical history taken.  Treatment with skin boosters is not recommended in the following instances;

  1. If you have a skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).
  2. If you have previously experienced allergic reactions to any of the ingredients or local anaesthetic
  3. If you are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin, or have a bleeding disorder.
  4. If you are taking steroids or have autoimmune disease.
  5. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  6. If you are currently or have recently completed a course of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin acne treatment) in the last 18 months.
  7. If you have suffered from keloid scars, scleroderma or epilepsy

What will I look like after?

Your skin may have pin prick marks & tiny blebs/bumps at the injection site. There may be some redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising which should settle within the next few days. Makeup should not be worn for 12 hours.
