What is micro-needling?
Micro-needling is an advanced skin-needling procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself safely and naturally. Micro-needles are able to part the pores of the top layer of the skin without damaging it. This naturally stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin and is safe to use on different areas of the body for smoother, brighter, healthier and younger looking skin. This is a simple and safe treatment.
What is micro-needling used for?
Micro-needling has excellent results for skin rejuvenation, treatment of scars and stretch marks. Recommended for:
Facial lines and wrinkles
Décolleté lines and wrinkles
Neck lines and wrinkles
Sun damaged skin and pigmentation
Hair loss and hair thinning
Does micro-needling hurt?
The needles are long enough to assist in the penetration of your skincare product, but will not damage the skin or scalp in any way. It is normal for the skin or scalp to be a little sensitive when micro-needling is first commenced, but most people report no problems after a few days.
Can micro-needling be used on veins?
Yes micro-needling can be used on veins close to the surface of the skin. Micro-needling helps to break up larger blood vessels and can be used to crisscross the dilated blood vessels, disrupting them like this promotes their disappearance. Healing is usually complete in a few days and treatments may be repeated at monthly intervals as needed.
Can I use micro-needling if I have active acne?
No, it will make the acne spread.
How long will it take to see results?
All skin is different so we can’t give a definite time for this, however your skin will feel lighter, tighter and brighter almost immediately. When treating scars or wrinkles you will see results each week as the skin changes and collagen re-grows.
Can I have micro-needling when breast feeding or pregnant?
The reason it is said not to have micro-needling when pregnant, lactating and feeding is that the body needs all of its vitamins to feed the baby. As the production of new collagen uses some vitamins, it is best not to have this treatment at this time.
Can micro-needling be used to treat my face and arms?
All areas of the face, neck and body can be treated.
What about facial warts or cold sores and having micro-needling?
If you have any type of herpes virus, dormant or otherwise you cannot have micro-needling on that area. When treating above lip lines, if you have suffered from cold sores in the past your practitioner will make sure the micro-needler does not touch the lips or the cold sores will flare again. Facial warts if dormant may not flare when having micro-needling but it is not worth the risk.
