Skin Boosters / Polynucleotides

In recent years, more and more people are looking for a more natural approach to anti-ageing treatments – ie. not dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections. Skin boosters are a perfect alternative to these, working specifically to target crepey skin and fine lines alongside aiding in hydration and improving both tone and texture.

There are many options out there (and not all of them great!), so we’ve created this useful tool to show you our firm favourites, what they’ll do for your skin and how to maximise your results by combining them with other treatments.

There are many skin rejuvenating boosters on the market and not all are created equal. Here are our favourites which can be had on their own, or combined with other treatments to enhance your results further:

Sunekos

This booster works by stimulating the fibroblasts in the skin to produce new collagen and elastin and reduce premature skin ageing.

What it does:

  • Stimulates Collagen & Elastin – Activates fibroblasts to regenerate and strengthen the skin.
  • Essential Skin Nutrients – Contains amino acids and hyaluronic acid, vital for skin health.
  • Versatile Application – Suitable for all skin types and areas, including the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.
  • Targeted Eye Rejuvenation – Sunekos Proforma reduces dark circles and under-eye bags.
  • Combats Skin Ageing – Addresses loss of tone, fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage.
  • Deep Hydration – Restores moisture, improving skin suppleness and radiance.

Ares

Used for aged, sun damaged, lacklustre and wrinkled skin, these boosters restore elasticity by stimulating the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin.

What it does:

  • Enhances Skin Luminosity – Promotes a radiant, healthy glow.
  • Boosts Collagen Production – Stimulates repair and strengthens skin structure.
  • Deep Hydration & Plumping – Contains three molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to smooth and moisturise.
  • Improves Skin Texture – Encourages cellular renewal for a refined, even surface.
  • Wrinkle-Relaxing Effect – Softens fine lines and reduces visible ageing signs.

Exosomes

Tiny, powerful, extracellular vesicles created and released by cells in our bodies that contain various lipids, proteins, amino acids, peptides, growth factors, and genetic material. They work by communicating and transmitting signals between cells, encouraging them to repair and strengthen, enhancing the effects of the micro-needling treatment we use alongside.

What they do:

  • Cellular Repair: Promotes the repair and regeneration of skin cells.
  • Boosts Efficacy: Enhances the natural effects of microneedling, supercharging the results by enabling deeper skin penetration of the exosomes and enhance absorption.
  • Reduces Inflammation: Helps in reducing skin inflammation and promotes healing.
  • Boosts collagen & elastin for firmer, smoother skin.
  • Speeds up healing, so you can bounce back faster (No downtime!!).
  • Fights fine lines, wrinkles, acne, & rosacea, large pores, scarring
  • Continuously active for 6 to 8 months post-treatment

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are powerful, bioactive molecules derived from DNA and RNA that support skin regeneration at a cellular level. They work by stimulating fibroblasts, increasing hydration, and reducing inflammation, making them a perfect complement to microneedling treatments for enhanced skin rejuvenation.

What they do:

  • Stimulate Cellular Repair – Encourage skin regeneration by activating fibroblasts.
  • Boost Collagen & Elastin – Strengthen skin structure for improved firmness and elasticity.
  • Deep Hydration – Attract and retain moisture, enhancing skin suppleness.
  • Reduce Inflammation – Soothe irritation and accelerate healing.
  • Improve Skin Texture – Minimize fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and large pores.
  • Enhance Microneedling Results – Improve absorption and maximize treatment benefits.
  • Speed Up Recovery – Shorten downtime and promote faster healing.
  • Long-Lasting Effects – Continue working for up to 6-8 months post-treatment.

These are a non-surgical, injectable treatments. Prior to treatment the area to be treated is cleansed and a numbing cream applied, if required.

Unlike some skin boosters which are used just below the surface of the skin, most of these can be injected at multiple levels in the skin, either with a needle or via a cannula. Following treatment the area is lightly massaged. The whole process takes around 45 minutes (including numbing time) and best results are obtained from a course of treatments.

How quickly will I see results?

You will generally start to see improvement in hydration levels in your skin around 1-2 weeks after your first treatment. The best results come in the weeks following as your collagen network is rebuilt.

Does it hurt?

We can apply a numbing cream to the treatment area for 20 minutes before treatment so the process is not painful although there may be minor discomfort as the product can sting a little.

How long does it last?

The results of improved skin hydration and reduced skin pigmentation last 6 to 9 months.  This may vary and does depend on factors such as the structure and condition of your skin, lifestyle factors and age.

Is it just one treatment?

Depending on the area that is being treated, protocol requires 3- 4 treatments at 2-4 week intervals.  We recommend repeating this twice a year to maintain results.

Is there any downtime?

The procedure has no downtime (although as with any injectable treatment there may be bruising and swelling) and the patient can immediately continue as normal.  On occasions there may be significant swelling in the under eye area.

Can anyone have this treatment?

As with all our treatments you will have a full consultation and medical history taken.  Treatment with skin boosters is not recommended in the following instances;

  1. If you have a skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).
  2. If you have previously experienced allergic reactions to any of the ingredients or local anaesthetic
  3. If you are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin, or have a bleeding disorder.
  4. If you are taking steroids or have autoimmune disease.
  5. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  6. If you are currently or have recently completed a course of Roaccutane (Isotretinoin acne treatment) in the last 18 months.
  7. If you have suffered from keloid scars, scleroderma or epilepsy

What will I look like after?

Your skin may have pin prick marks & tiny blebs/bumps at the injection site. There may be some redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising which should settle within the next few days. Makeup should not be worn for 12 hours.
