We’ve always been, and continue to be, big fans of the AlumierMD SPF range, and that hasn’t changed.However, we’ve recently reintroduced Heliocare into clinic. It’s a range we stocked many years ago, and after so many client requests, it felt like the right time to bring it back.

Both ranges have their place, and having Heliocare available again simply gives us more flexibility to tailor sun protection to different skin types, concerns, and lifestyles.

What is Heliocare and why do we love it?

This is where Heliocare comes in. And just to be clear, many Heliocare products are SPF, but they go a step further than your standard sunscreen.

Heliocare combines high-level UV protection with powerful antioxidant support, helping to protect the skin both on the surface and at a deeper level. Alongside their topical SPFs, they also offer oral supplements, giving you that added layer of protection from within.

At the centre of it all is Fernblock®, a plant extract that helps defend the skin against UV damage and supports overall skin health.

So what does Heliocare actually do?

Think of it as a more advanced approach to sun protection.

While the SPF element works to shield your skin from UV rays, the added antioxidants help deal with the damage that can still occur. This includes neutralising free radicals, supporting repair, and calming inflammation that can lead to pigmentation and premature ageing.

 In clinic, we often introduce Heliocare when we need more than just a basic SPF.

For some people, a standard SPF is enough. But if your skin needs that extra level of support, Heliocare is often the missing piece.

Topical vs oral Heliocare – do you need both?

They do slightly different jobs, and together they work really well.

Topical Heliocare protects the surface of the skin while helping reduce oxidative stress. The capsules work from within, supporting your skin’s natural defences and making it more resilient to UV exposure.

Used together, it’s a much more complete approach. And in practice, this is often what gives the most consistent, long-term results.

Why this matters if you’re having treatments

This is the bit people don’t always realise.

You can have the best treatments in the world, but if your sun protection isn’t strong enough, those results won’t last as long as they should.

Why combination plans work best

FAQ: SPF, sun damage and Heliocare

Do I still need SPF if I take Heliocare capsules? Yes, always. Capsules support your protection, but they don’t replace SPF.

Can I use Heliocare every day? Yes, it’s designed for regular use, especially if you want that extra level of protection.

Will Heliocare treat melasma? Not on its own, but it plays an important role in managing it and preventing it from returning.

Do I really need SPF in winter? Yes. UVA is around all year and still affects your skin, even when it’s cold or cloudy.
