Skin Laxity

Skin that feels looser, softer, or less supported than it used to.
Strengthening, lifting, and rebuilding structure – without surgery or drastic change.

Introducing skin laxity

Skin laxity refers to a gradual loss of firmness and support within the skin, often showing up as subtle sagging, softening, or a lack of definition – particularly around the jawline, cheeks, neck, and under the chin.

For many people, it is not about deep wrinkles or volume loss, but more that things just do not feel as “held” as they once were.

This change happens slowly, which is why it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly when it started.

Skin laxity is primarily driven by a decline in collagen and elastin, the fibres responsible for keeping skin firm and resilient. As these reduce, the skin becomes less able to hold its shape and begins to sit differently over time.

At Rediscovered Skin Clinic, we focus on stimulating your body’s own collagen production and improving the structural integrity of the skin – helping it feel firmer, more supported, and better able to maintain its natural contours.

What are the causes?

Targeted treatments that protect and preserve your natural beauty.

Collagen & elastin decline

The most significant factor in skin laxity, leading to reduced firmness and elasticity over time.

Ageing and environmental exposure

Sun damage and lifestyle factors accelerate the breakdown of supportive fibres within the skin.

Structural and volume changes

Loss of underlying support can contribute to the appearance of looser, less defined skin.

FAQs

Yes. While non-surgical treatments won’t replicate the results of surgery, we do offer options that can help improve skin firmness, laxity, and overall structure. Treatments such as HIFU, RF Micro-needling and skin boosters can all play a role, depending on your skin, concerns, and goals.

Some treatments give an initial tightening effect, but the most noticeable results develop gradually over 3–6 months as collagen rebuilds.

This depends on the treatment and severity of laxity. Some treatments are one-off, while others are done as a course.

We cannot completely reverse the ageing process, but we can significantly improve firmness and slow further decline.

Common areas include the jawline, lower face, neck, and under the chin, but suitability depends on your individual skin and goals.
