09 May Is Vitamin C really worth using??
Who among us doesn’t want healthier, more glowing, brighter and smoother skin? That’s why Alumier Everactive Vitamin C & E is such an essential skincare ingredient. This incredible antioxidant protects skin from UV damage, aids collagen production and helps improve dark spots to reveal bright, fresh looking skin!
The easiest way to add it into your routine is in the form of a serum. Just a few drops, applied before moisturiser in the morning, will leave your skin protected all day.
Of course, you can get Vitamin C through foods such as oranges, pineapple and broccoli and whilst it is an important nutrient to load up on (essential for growth and development and tissue repair) unfortunately, simply eating more oranges and broccoli isn’t enough! That’s because the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin, doesn’t have blood vessels to send the nutrients to the skin cells.
Vitamin C can, however, be applied topically — and that’s where Alumier Vitamin C serum comes in. So what exactly is this wonder serum , and what’s in it?
Alumier Vitamin C serum is strangely enough, a skin-care product packed with… you guessed it…. Vitamin C!! It comes as a liquid or gel and is applied onto the skin. The benefit of Vitamin C is that it’s an antioxidant, so it helps prevent the forming of free radicals, which are the nasties that break down collagen and elastin. It can also help in making collagen and elastin (which can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles); help reduce inflammation; provide natural, mild exfoliation and brighten skin as well as helping with melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
So who should use a Vitamin C serum?
Vitamin C can help protect the skin from many problems, including sunburn, photoaging, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, sagging, dryness, and an uneven skin tone so anyone dealing with these skin issues may want to consider adding an Alumier Vitamin C serum to their skincare regime. Ideally it’s a good idea to start before any of these issues arise but, it’s never too late!
How to choose the right Vitamin C Serum:
Vitamin C comes in a few different forms, including L-ascorbic acid, ascorbyl-6-palmitate, and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. The price of these serums can vary greatly so how do you choose? Pay attention to the vitamin C concentration. Look for one with a concentration higher than 8 percent, which is the minimum amount that’s shown to make a difference to your skin. The higher the concentration, the stronger the serum although the benefits taper off at 20 percent. Alumier Everactive Vitamin C & E is a whopping 15%!
When choosing your product, look for one that also contains vitamin E and Ferulic acid which help stabilise vitamin C making it less likely to irritate the skin.
Also ensure when choosing a product that it comes in an opaque, air-tight bottle as Vitamin C oxidises when exposed to the air and will become inefficient. Think of what a cut apple looks like if you leave it on the plate for an hour – that brown colouration is oxidisation in action. Your serum should be light yellow, if it has darkened – throw it out!
How to Use Alumier Vitamin C Serum
Apply a few drops of serum to your face after you wash and dry it. A little bit goes a long way. We recommend applying in the morning before your moisturiser and sunscreen.
Potential Side Effects and Risks of Vitamin C Serums
Alumier Vitamin C is a safe and generally well-tolerated ingredient. The only exception is if you have sensitive skin. People with very sensitive skin should speak to us in clinic before use.
There you have it – we highly recommend you give it a go!
